The Axel solid American oak dining table is a bold, strong, sharp piece for discerning curators. This durable Mid-Century Modern inspired dining table is designed to last for decades with the right care.

The Axel dining table blends statement angles with a smooth, velvety texture to create the perfect centerpiece. Absolutely no Veneered MDF has been used on this product so this piece is far stronger, heavier and of a much higher quality. Solid American Oak is relatively easy to repair should it get chipped or damaged, unlike a veneered surface. Real timber is more robust for wearing surfaces such as a table top, and the joints will withstand greater impacts or misuse. 

Initial Concept

The concept for the Axel rectangular dining table was family - gathering around a beautiful piece of furniture to create memories, share stories and simply be together.  

As a father and son founding team, David and Adam Light understood the need to have a solid and yet unique looking dining table at which everyone eat, drink and be merry. The initial idea for the Axel dining table combines this need with their proud tradition of valuing the authenticity of materials to craft quality furniture, designed for living.  

Sourcing of Materials

We work hard to ensure that we’re always producing sustainable furniture. For example, the solid American oak which makes up the Axel dining table is sourced from American forests which embrace sustainable principles - meaning the timber is sustainably harvested, works to restore the ecosystem, implements a replaning process, undertakes consistent environmental monitoring, and respects the land rights of indigenous peoples.

We also use oak because it's hardy and it lasts - it has a natural strength which makes it ideal for the interior home environment. Unlike veneered furniture, there's less damage from wear and tear so you don't have to throw it out to replace it with something equally replaceable. 

Our solid timber furniture is a provider of carbon storage and therefore has a positive effect on the planet by containing carbon, and its regrowth in sustainable managed forests adds to the carbon emission reduction. 

By crafting our solid American oak furniture, such as the Axel dining table, from timber we are doing the best we can on the planet - making pieces that last through the generations and rejecting the tread of flat-pack, cheap, disposable, replaceable veneer furniture. 

What to Furnish With

The Axel dining table works perfectly within a Scandi or Mid-Century Modern decor and with any of our Magnus dining chairs and sideboard. The sideboard provides additional storage while the dining chairs in natural timber, fabric or leather seats provide an opportunity to bring a pop of color into your dining space as well as additional comfort for those dinners and conversations that linger into the early hours.

Axel Table + Magnus Fabric Dining Chair

The Magnus fabric dining chair is available with 100% polyester fabric for durability and easy cleaning. We recommend vacuuming the fabric seat monthly and applying a fabric protective spray every three months. Fabric seats are available in: 

• Warm Gray - mid-tone gray with warm undertones in a tight weave
• Midnight Blue - dark, rich blue color in a tight weave
• Cement Gray - light gray with warm undertones in a tight weave
• Sage Green - earthy, light green color in a tight medium weave

Axel Table + Magnus Leather Dining Chair

The Magnus leather upholstered dining chair adds a sophisticated element to your dining room or space. Should liquid be spilled on the leather, wipe off quickly. We recommend the use of a leather moisturiser each month.

Leather seats are available in: 

• Black - top grain leather with smooth pebbled texture
• Cream - warm white top grain leather.  Avoid contact with unwashed overdyed new denim
