Sustainable |
This rug is made using renewable natural materials, including East Indian handspun Jute, New Zealand wool, and BCI Organic cotton. Our dye houses use captured rainwater and organic dyes, with the wastewater being filtered on-site and reused for irrigation. This rug is made by local artisans, of which more than 40% are women, in a solar-powered facility. Our rug experts also offer training to people from the region, many of whom are single mothers, so they can learn the trade and stay with their families while they earn an income. We choose not to apply backings to our rugs as we are proud of how well they are constructed. Backings, even cotton, are often applied to hide poor quality workmanship, using strong latex adhesives, with Nylon embedded in-between. |
