| A Hand-knotted rug is a rug that is made by hand on a specialized loom. The process of making a Hand knotted rug is incredibly time consuming and it can take up to 6 months for the artisans to construct one rug. The method itself requires the weaver to insert knots into the rug and tie them each by hand. |

| This rug is crafted from hand-carded and hand-spun wool sourced from highland sheep in the southwestern Afghan region. We then use 100% BCI Organic cotton for the warp. |

Scouring, spinning, dying, reeling, weaving, trimming, binding, washing, drying, stretching, clipping, and packaging; this is all done by hand to deliver to you a superior quality rug. Our rugs are made in India under Fair Trade standards and this can take up to 6 months of meticulous work to construct. |

| This rug is made using renewable natural materials, including New Zealand wool and BCI Organic cotton. Our dye houses use captured rainwater and organic dyes, with the wastewater being filtered on-site and reused for irrigation. This rug is made by local artisans, of which more than 40% are women, in a solar-powered facility. Our rug experts also offer training to people from the region, many of whom are single mothers, so they can learn the trade and stay with their families while they earn an income. We choose not to apply backings to our rugs as we are proud of how well they are constructed. Backings, even cotton, are often applied to hide poor quality workmanship, using strong latex adhesives, with Nylon embedded in-between. |
